PILOTPRIEST - Body Double (or Daft Punk? :S)

There was some controversy over whether or not this song for the soundtrack to 'TRON: Legacy' was by Daft Punk or Canadian Dj PilotPriest. It was uploaded under both names. Daft's title being 'The Crash'. Regardless it's a great track heavily influenced by Punk's sound (see 'alive').

And now a quote from Myannoyances...

''I've noticed how people decided to shorten christmas with an 'X'. I'm wondering if we're aloud do that with the actual name. You have to admit 'Jesus X'? That sounds pretty awesome. If Jesus X made a religion I would totally follow it and lets be honest so would you! because nobody messes with Jesus X.....''Let he without sin FIRE THE FIRST LASER!'.I'm thinking this needs a theme song, you know, something catchy like...'Go go Jesus X.. He's dying for your sins and messing your stuff up!'..yeah its going to take some time but we'll make it work...''

Brothers: Review

So, I'm just back from seeing Jim Sheridan's new war drama Brothers. Its got a solid turnout w/regards to its cast. Starring Jake gyllenhaal Natalie Portman and Tobey Maguire. The story itself is relatively realistic, especially in modern america i would imagine.Maguire's character returns from war in afghanistan after being reported as dead. While he's gone Gyllenhaal steps in to take the male role in the family. Obviously this isn't commonplace but Maguire's reaction to the reality of war and his dealing with what he witnessed during his time in service is very believable. The film itself has a great script with regard to proportion and balance. In my opinion ,the switch from comedy to drama to romance fits like its all natural. There are some great performances to be seen in this picture. Portman and gyllenhaal give very strong performances as the wife and brother of Maguires character. Their reactions seem very realistic as anyone would to the situation they find themselves in. However, the standout performance to me was without a doubt Maguire. The best example of his performance can be seen in the penultimate scene of the film. In this scene he finally has a breakdown  after his return from war. His acting in this scene is top class and I now fully understand his nomination for the golden globes(which he sadly didn't win). But I am glad to see he got recognition for his playing of this character. Overall , Brothers is definitely worth seeing and I cant see how anyone wouldn't agree after seeing it.

AVATAR: Highest Grossing Movie of All Time

James Cameron's Sci-fi/Fantasy Epic Avatar has beaten box office records . The film has so far made a stunning 1.84 Billion dollar worldwide intake. This comes five weeks after it's release. Cameron held the top spot for the last thirteen years with his fictional romantic tale 'Titanic' loosely based on the events of the 1912 tragedy which made little over 1.8 billion. But how did he achieve this success? There isn't anything really original about the story (see fern gully/Dances with wolves).3D has been around since the 1960's. Perhaps its the reputation his career has given him?or his pioneering the new age of cinema to its audience very tastefully by having a balance between the story/spectacle. I can see this being as big as Star Wars in pop culture. Avatar weddings anyone? His vision has captivated audiences the world over, allowing them to escape to a magical world of tremendous beauty that is Pandora. However he has managed to be so successful, Its is obvious that people have enjoyed it so much they have gone numerous times(Including myself :P). Avatar is still playing in cinemas and I assume it will be playing throughout February . If anyone has not seen this yet or a 3D movie for that matter what are you waiting for?

Miike Snow : Underated?

Miike Snow are a swedish electro/Indy Pop band which first formed in 2007. The band's name itself comes from the famed Japanese director Takashi Miike. Their sound is very unique mixing electro melody's with classical piano to get a great original sound. Miike's live gigs are a spectacle worth the price of the ticket. I was fortunate enough to see them live last year. Only for my seeing them coincidentally at a digitalism concert ,in association with heineken green spheres, I would never have heard their music. Its a shame they aren't as big in the industry as they deserve. The self titled debut album 'Miike Snow' is available now and can be purchased on Itunes or in retail. Nearly every song is worth a listen but if you want to get a real taste of their sound I reccomend you give the following songs a chance...

-Animal
-Black and Blue
-Plastic Jungle
-Silvia
-Burial

The video for their song Animal Is posted below ...
